Functional Description:
The srehd (aka known as autonomous mine detection system (amds) is a suite of hardware and software components integrated onto an unmanned ground vehicle (ugv) platform, such as talon iv and future variants to provide the warfighter standoff explosive detection, marking, and neutralization capabilities. It uses the sensor and electronics box (e-box) from the an/pss-14 handheld mine detector to detect surface laid, partially buried and buried metallic, low-metallic and non-metallic explosive hazards (eh). The amds also has the ability to mark detected eh and/or the cleared path. The third capability of the amds provides neutralization of the detected eh by emplacing a neutralizer, in the form of an array of shape charges, above the detected and marked eh. The operator will then maneuver the amds a safe distance away prior to initiation of the neutralizer and subsequent detonation of the array, thereby neutralizing the eh.
